Peugeot’s 207 Economique ensures minimum carbon emissions

car1

Peugeot has launched a new version of its top-selling mini hatchback, the Peugeot 207 Economique, which emits merely 99 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The most fuel-efficient car of the French company comes with improved engine management software and an additional EGR heat exchanger to cool the re-injected exhaust gases, and both of these result in lower fuel consumption and reduced carbon emissions. Peugeot aims to preserve the environment by developing vehicles that are low on emissions. Living up to the commitment, the company uses the latest technology in designing this car that reduces carbon emissions drastically.

The Peugeot 207 Economique is powered by a de-tuned version of PSA’s 1.6-liter HDi diesel engine that produces 90bhp, and accelerates the car to 62mph in 11.7 seconds. It has a top speed of 115mph and a fuel economy figure of 74.3mpg. It has an integrated specially modified five-speed manual gearbox with a higher final drive ratio than the standard 207 to reduce the rpm at highway speeds. To make sure the entire engine’s power is used to propel the car forward, a lot of time was spent in improving the aerodynamics of the 207.

Moreover, its features include air conditioning, a trip computer, electric heated mirrors, electric windows, remote locking, four airbags and a gearshift indicator. Exhibited for the first time at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, the new Peugeot 207 Economique will be available in the UK from October. The small hatchback will come in two variants, the Economique and the up-spec Economique+ with a starting price of £12,995 ($26,388).
