Recycling two existing cottages, Culver Architects has designed a prefab home named the “Cleft House” that offers a sustainable lifestyle within a limited budget. Located on a narrow lot in Venice, a city in Sarasota County, Florida, United States, the duplex house presents mesmerizing waterfront views without compromising the privacy of the dwellers.
Looking like a vertical light box, the prefab house boasts a trendy design to utilize maximum space. Supported by factory built steel frame, made using renewable and recyclable waste steel, the Cleft House is covered with the walls made from translucent panels, together with huge sliding window walls, to make the most of the natural light during the day.
Featuring the interior finished in highly-insulated R-30 recycled foam to provide a sustainable retreat, the home was designed in two different units with separate function that merge to form a seamless design . They merge beautifully and feature a continuous design. Though the Cleft House was installed within a short span of time, it took long and difficult arrangements at the backend.
