The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine calculated that a microbicide can be effective against HIV. Gita Ramjee is the director of the HIV prevention research unit at South Africa’s Medical Research Council. She says that microbicides offered enormous possibility to stop the epidemic. It can be available in the form of a gel, cream, sponge or ring. It releases an active component that can kill or inactivate HIV viruses at the time of intercourse.<\/p>

It will be more important in societies where men unwillingly use a condom. It may be available by 2010. Five separate clinical trials of 12,000 people involved in South Africa and thousands in other countries are on the move. It will take another two years for the result. According to the UN sources, half of people living with the HIV virus are female. This research will definitely give a boost to the medical world to stop the dangerous disease like AIDS.<\/p>\n
