A case study in the online version of Clinical Infectious Diseases describes that Type II diabetes can lead to complications in treating HIV infection. Diabetes is a known side-effect of antiretroviral therapy, principally with protease inhibitors.<\/p>\n

Some studies assert a link between the onset of diabetes and HIV infection itself. The previous studies failed to demonstrate a consistent link between HIV infection and diabetes. <\/p>

\n<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n

This case suggests that HIV infection itself may swift type II diabetes mellitus and that effectual viral suppression can reverse this disorder. Two other cases also showed about the association of advanced HIV infection with noticeable type II diabetes mellitus. All the men with these cases are of African descent.<\/p>\n

However, larger studies are needed to establish whether these observations reflect a true relationship between HIV infection and diabetes.<\/p>\n
