The British Journal, ‘Sexually Transmitted Infections’, has published a study, the first of it kind, on the Herpes simplex virus infection. The study found that seventy-six percent of Australian adults are exposed to HSV-1. HSV-2, genital infection, is twice more common in women than men.<\/p>\n

Tony Cunningham, deputy chairperson of the Australian Herpes Management Forum, said that, <\/p>

increasing oral sex habits among young age people may be the cause the higher HSV-1 infection rate. \n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nIt is completely opposite early belief that this variant can infect the genital area. He also advises to avoid oral sex for women in late pregnancy. This can make harm to the baby as HSV-1 can be easily transmitted to her.
