Acute demyelinating encephalomyelitis<\/strong> (ADEM) is a rare and fatal disease. It attacks on the myelin cover around nerves, which acts as insulator. It causes inflammation of brain and spinal chord. Children and young people become the victim of the disease most of the time. <\/p>

Jamie Pulliam, a 7-year-old girl, became a victim of this disease. Her brain was caught in Influenza B. She was admitted in the Emmanuel Children’s Hospital in Portland.<\/p>\n

Jamie’s left side face is paralyzed. She is now undergoing physical, speech, occupational and art therapy. She was learning swallowing, breathing, eating and other functions controlled by the part of the brain that the flu attacked.<\/p>\n
