\"mammogramThe most common cancer threat to women with an estimated new cases and deaths from it is — breast cancer. In 2007, by now, 178,480 women in the United States alone are found to be suffering from the disease.<\/strong> Disappointingly, the figure of death caused from breast cancer adds up to 40,460 in the country<\/strong>, according to a National Cancer Institute report<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But what’s wrong with the existing tamoxifen drug used for breast cancer treatment?<\/strong><\/p>

This preferred drug for estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer treatment generally develops resistance against the disease. The disease, at times, also develops resistance to the drug during treatment. Thus, what is needed is a breast cancer drug that has ‘different molecular targets.’<\/strong><\/p>\n

Concerned in the lines of this problem and with the number of breast cancer cases rising each year, more and more researchers are coming to find a remedy or cure to the disease. Amidst this, the Hamilton College researchers seem to have successfully broken the ice!<\/p>\n

They have identified molecules that are capable in fighting against breast cancer. <\/strong>The molecules they designed may prove as effective lead compounds for research in breast cancer. Thanks to the advanced computational methods that helped the Hamilton researchers come up with designing the molecules.<\/p>\n
