*As support for Obama\u2019s new healthcare law hits a new low, a Virginia judge ruled that the specific requirement that forces citizens to purchase health insurance \u201cgoes beyond Congress\u2019 powers to regulate interstate commerce\u201d.*<\/p>\n

\u201cAt its core, this dispute is not simply about regulating the business of insurance \u2014 or crafting a scheme of universal health insurance coverage \u2014 it\u2019s about an individual\u2019s right to choose to participate,\u201d wrote Virginia District Judge Henry Hudson. Hudson did not directly address other provisions of the bill, which is set to go into effect in 2014.<\/p>

\u201cToday\u2019s ruling is a clear affirmation that President Obama\u2019s health care law is unconstitutional,\u201d remarked Virginia House majority whip Eric Cantor. \u201cUltimately, we must ensure that no American will be forced by the federal government to purchase health insurance they may not need, want, or be able to afford.\u201d<\/p>\n
