Healthcare System in Croatia<\/strong><\/p>\n

The health system in Croatia is based on the concept of accessibility and continuity of care. Similar to other developed countries, Croatia also spends a high percentage of its GDP on healthcare. The healthcare system in Croatia has a very dominant public sector with the state owning hospitals and the governments’ owning medical centers.<\/p>\n

The public sector of the healthcare system is funded through the mandatory health insurance from the citizen which ensures access to health services. It is also funded through general taxes from the public.<\/p>\n

Quality of Healthcare in Croatia<\/strong><\/p>

The people of Croatia generally are satisfied with their healthcare system and possess good health—this can be demonstrated by their increasing life expectancy which is three years below the EU average. The quality of services in the private sector and a few public hospitals is comparable to those in Europe, yet at a lower cost.<\/p>\n

Since Croatia is still a new-comer in the medical tourism market, they do not have any officially accredited hospitals yet. However, to prove it’s commitment, continuous improvement is observed in the quality level of the facilities. They have contract with the Canadian Society of International Health. This partnership will help implement a national accreditation program that can monitor and improve the quality of services further. <\/p>\n
