\nCellphones do not cause headaches and pain. The headaches that seem to be caused by talking for long on cellphones are simply human perception. A recent study conducted in Norway rules out the possibility of radiofrequency radiations coming out from cellphones to cause head pain or increase in blood pressure.<\/p>\n

The study was conducted by Dr. Gunnhild Oftedal and associates at the Norway University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. Seventeen participants who “regularly experienced pain or discomfort in the head during or shortly after mobile phone calls lasting between 15 and 30 minutes” were exposed to radiofrequency waves, and sham. The participants were made unaware of which session was which and 65 pairs of trial were conducted.<\/p>

As reported in the medical journal Cephalalgia, the participants said they felt an increase in pain or discomfort during 68 per cent of all trials. The team of researchers did not observe any relative effects of the radiofrequency waves on the heartbeat rate and blood pressure. There were also no statistically significant relation between the actual exposure and the increase in pain or discomfort.
\nThe team concluded that the most likely explanation of the pain and discomfort “is that the symptoms are due to negative expectations.”<\/p>\n
