\nAccording to a recent study — use of an epileptic seizure medical treatment can lower the occurring of hot flashes in case of prostate cancer patients.<\/p>\n

Prostate cancer is cancer that grows in prostate gland. The prostate is a small, walnut-sized structure that makes up part of a man’s reproductive system. It wraps around the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the body.<\/p>\n

The researchers discovered that by the use of medicine gabapentin which is also used in the treatment of nerve pain caused by shingles significantly cuts hot flashes in males who are going through androgen-deprivation therapy, for the prostate cancer.<\/p>

The researchers discovered that gabapentin reduces the frequency of hot flashes <\/strong>nearly 46% in males who are going through androgen deprivation therapy.<\/p>\n

Lead researcher Dr. Charles Loprinzi said in a prepared statement:<\/p>\n

To my knowledge, this is the first non-hormonal treatment of hot flashes in men, where results from a placebo-controlled trial are positive enough to support that a non-hormonal medication can be used to help some of our patients.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The results of this study were presented in Chicago at the meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.<\/p>\n
