\nPeople who have the life threatening disease of lungs in which there is continuous high BP<\/strong> in the arteries of the lungs, can now have a new medication option.<\/p>\n

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration)<\/strong> they had approved Letairis for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. In this case there is always high BP in the arteries that carry poor oxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs of humans. When arteries narrow down, the heart is required to pump hard, as a result it become weak with the passage of time. This disease affects nearly100, 000 persons in the U.S.<\/p>\n

The medicine, named as ambrisentan<\/strong>, is manufactured by Gilead Sciences Inc. it is based in Foster City, Calif. The manufacturer mentions that the medicine would be available in the market from next week. The pill will cost $3,940 per month.<\/p>

The medicine is launched in market with a warning that it may lead to birth defects and it is advised that pregnant ladies or those female who can be pregnant should not use it. It can also damage liver. The patients who are asked to take this pill daily are advised to go for blood tests every month<\/strong> to know if liver is in functioning good and everything normal there.<\/p>\n

F.D.A. had again declined to give its approval to Thelin, which is already approved in Europe and Canada. It works in the same way.<\/p>\n

Other drugs which are approved for treatment of the condition are – Tracleer and Revatio, a lower dose of the same main component in the drug Viagra (which is used for impotency).<\/p>\n
