Looking for a mate? How would a person qualify to be your life-partner? Is it the status, family background, health, characteristic or the physical features that turns you on? Well, whatever could be your answer, the fact remains that given a choice, you are more likely to choose a partner who is more attractive <\/strong>than the other. Obviously, isn’t it? And that’s exactly what science has confirmed.<\/p>\n

Men<\/strong> tend to choose attractiveness over other characteristic<\/strong> which means they are likely to choose an attractive lass over the well qualified next-door girl. Researchers at Indiana University involved 26 men and 20 men in their study. All participants aged between 26 and 40 took part in ‘speed dating<\/strong>‘ with short meetings that lasted between three to seven minutes before they moved on to meet another date.<\/p>\n

They were first asked to fill in a questionnaire which contained categories such as wealth, status, health, physical appearance, attractiveness and mention their preferences before ‘speed dating’ and then they were asked to check off the ‘dates’ they were interested in meeting again.<\/p>

The researchers compared the characteristics of the women men chose with the pre-filled questionnaire and found that their choices did not meet the expected preferences<\/strong>, meaning the mates they chose were nowhere close to their expectations.<\/p>\n

Just because people say they’re looking for a particular set of characteristics in a mate, someone like themselves, doesn’t mean that is what they’ll end up choosing<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

says Peter M. Todd, of the cognitive science program at Indiana University, Bloomington.<\/p>\n

The case was same for women<\/strong> though their choice was made on the basis of the awareness of their own beauty and choosing mates that matched their attractiveness, in the sense they were thinking practically<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

‘It’s beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart<\/em>.’ is an old quote and the new one goes like this “It’s beauty that captures your attention and your heart now<\/strong><\/em>“!<\/p>\n
