Cancer is a terrible disease. Lately, researchers in Sweden found out that Precancerous Lesions<\/strong> of Cervix among the Swiss women still remain a major threat. The National Swedish Cancer research provided the research folks with the data.<\/p>\n

When medical researchers looked at the patient data between 1958 and 2002<\/strong>. They were busy particularly looking for lesions called dysplasia, or carcinoma in situ (CIS). Conditions like these happen in the mucous of the cervix as well as the vagina. According to the research paper, women around 50 years of age are prone to these conditions.

Bjorn Strander <\/strong>of Sahlgren’s Academy at the University of Gothenburg led the research team. The Swedish study have been published in the British medical journal. Couple of Italian researchers in a similar study figured out that the Swedish study should spark off more research and give way to new findings.<\/p>\n

Pap smear<\/strong> and DNA testing<\/a> was not done for this research. The researchers found that former patients with previous conditions are at a constant threat for the next 25 years or so. They have to be on constant watch. The bottom line is: women treated for (severe pre-cancerous lesions) should continue surveillance beyond the age limit.<\/p>\n
