Migraine shields against cognitive decline!

women with migraine 64
Good news for migraine- afflicted women as women with a lifetime history of migraine have been have been found facing comparatively less cognitive decline than women who didn’t have the unbearable headaches.

Researchers came up transpiring this view after examining the relationship between migraine headaches and cognitive functioning in about 1,448 women.

However, what makes migraine-afflicted women less prone to cognitive decline is still not very clear, but researchers believe that there may be several factors responsible for this, like such people tend to stay away from alcohol consumption, prefer long sleeping hours to fight migraine, and as they are more conscious about their health, therefore, often use vitamin-supplements. In addition, researchers are not defying the fact that may be that anti-migraine medications playing a significant role in this. Here it is worth mentioning that some studies have also shown that non-aspirin or NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) pain relievers might help boost cognition.

Now the question arises that how far such assumptions are correct because in the past too there have been some studies, which found no clues, proving that people with migraines, possess better cognitive health.

However, experts who came up with the latest study, buttress it saying that previous studies didn’t look at people over time, while under the latest study first they examined cognitive health of participants in 1993 and then again about 12 years later. This may be good news for migraine-afflicted people but those studies can also not be ignored, which have linked migraine with some serious health complications, like:

Migraine linked to heart disease

Women with Chronic Headache More Prone to Depression!

Men with Migraine More Prone to Heart Attack!

Moreover, this fact can also not be ignored that NSAID, which researchers are dubbing as good for cognitive health has also been found posing threat to heart.

In brief, it could be said that no doubt, findings of the latest study are wonderful, but if we keep in mind the studies mentioned above, then we can’t ignore the fact that whatever comes with migraine is not all good but some bad also intrude with it.
