Flower Power: Flowers that heal the soul and body

Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into.

– Henry Beecher

flowers heal 2112

I slightly disagree with this quote and strongly believe that flowers have a soul and the power to change a situation (think lovers!), environment (Parties, Weddings) or a place( Home sweet Home). But, did you know that flowers also have an amazing power of healing?

Can you recall stories about how fairies used flowers to touch a dead person to bring him alive? Well, though in reality it’s impossible to do that, they do have a power to heal many diseases.

How are they used? Flowers are used in the form of tea (jasmine tea), essential oils, baths, and tonic. Hibiscus tonic was widely used throughout the Middle East and warm climates as a treatment for inflammatory diseases and fevers.

Let’s check out the healing powers of five most commonly available flowers:

When jasmine oil is added to milk bath or in massage oil, it acts as an emotional tonic and takes away worry and stress. This oil is known to cure insomnia and is also an antidepressant. It is also effective in calming heart palpitations, treating headaches, neuralgia and vertigo.Stretch marks may vanish with the regular use of Neroli.

patchouli 2112

Patchouli: Patchouli has traditionally been put to a great many uses, medicinally. It’s probably best known for its antiseptic qualities and its use to treat skin and scalp problems such as athlete’s foot, dandruff, acne, dermatitis and to help heal wounds and scars. In aromatherapy, it is used to help reduce tension, insomnia and anxiety, as well as just in general uplift the spirits. So far up, in fact, that it is also considered by many cultures to be an aphrodisiac.
