Kira Ricketts, 15, suffered her first heart attack one week ago. She, already, had undergone five open-heart surgeries and one transplant by the age of six only. She has received her second transplant last week. The second operation was held in Toronto’s hospital for Sick Children and prepped for surgery.
It was a 12-hour surgery. The risks were very high because of previous surgeries she has had earlier. Doctors as well as parents are surprised over the quick recovery she is getting.
She was breathing on her own, had started talks within forty-eight hours of operation. She was up and walking after only four days. However, it will take six months time to show whether her body is accepting the new heart or not.
