While battery-operated bikes aren\u2019t really a new concept, we\u2019re excited about this team up as the two giants are sure to create a unique bike. Called the RAD e Concept pedelec, which is essentially a pedal-assist electric bike, it\u2019ll be powered by a 250 W electric motor that should produce about 29.5 lb\/ft of torque.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ecofriend.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/vauxhallopels_concept_electric_bike_wouna.jpg\" alt=\"Vauxhall\/Opel\\'s concept electric bike\" title=\"Vauxhall\/Opel\\'s concept electric bike\" \/> <\/p>\n<p><!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p><!--Gallery:31075--><\/p>\n<p>The bike can be charged in transit on a FlexFix bicycle carrying system so if you have one of these handy equipments, you can recharge the RAD e with ease. Borrowing styling cues from Opel\u2019s RAK e electric, Vauxhall\u2019s version will also be equipped with the same smartphone controller that unlocks the engine and delivers real-time info on the estimated range available along with other data.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on terrain, users of the RAD e should be able to average a speed of about 12.4 mph on a full charge over a range of 40 to 90 miles. This is much higher than other electric-powered bikes which usually average about 15-20 miles on a single charge. The makers have claimed that the bike will be built around automotive manufacturing methods wherein the frame will be constructed out of hollow-pressed steel. We don\u2019t know how far this is true and we\u2019re going to have to wait till a prototype is launched.<\/p>\n<p>The futuristic-looking bike does look like it\u2019s heading for production considering all the details we\u2019ve received. The lithium-ion technology and steel frame, in particular, have gotten us excited as if the bike is ever released, it\u2019s sure to be one hell of a ride.
