Bandaging Your Freshly Done Tattoo<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>When your Tattoo Artist has finished applying your Tattoo he or she will typically &#8220;wipe&#8221; the Tattoo down with green soap, then apply a thin coat of Vaseline or an anti-bacterial ointment (such as A&amp;D Ointment, Neosporin or Bacitracin), then bandage it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7811 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/bodyartdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/139991946-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"139991946\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/drprem.com\/designguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2014\/02\/139991946-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/drprem.com\/designguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2014\/02\/139991946.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2. Anti-Bacterial Ointments (Neosporin, Bacitracin, A&amp;D Ointment, Etc.).<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Before your new Tattoo is bandaged, your Tattoo Artist will typically apply a thin coat of an anti-bacterial ointment, such as Bacitracin or Neosporin from a sterile, single-use packet.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7725 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/drprem.com\/designguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2013\/12\/86520015-300x292.jpg\" alt=\"86520015\" width=\"300\" height=\"292\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong>\u00a0<b>How Long Before I Can Remove the Bandage?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>You\u00a0should wait at least a few hours.\u00a0 Principally, this is to allow the traumatized skin to heal and the &#8220;oozing&#8221; to stop flowing.<\/p>\n<p>After 4-6 hours feel free to remove the bandage &#8212; and if your artist has used plastic-film wrap, do not leave the bandage on more than 8 hours!\u00a0 Once you have removed the bandage, clean your new Tattoo well with a mild, non-abrasive soap and warm water.<\/p>\n<p>DO NOT SCRUB\u00a0&#8211; Clean it well &#8212; massage and remove the excess ink and dried fluid and be sure to remove the residue of any Vaseline, Neosporing or other ointment that may have been applied.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7699 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/bodyartdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/178524897-300x245.jpg\" alt=\"178524897\" width=\"300\" height=\"245\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>4.\u00a0<\/strong><b>Care During the First Week<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Simply moisturize the Tattoo lightly with a lotion &#8212; no more than 2 or 3 times a day. Use Noxzema face cream.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very light, water-based and non-pore clogging.<\/p>\n<p><b>CLOTHING<\/b>:\u00a0 You will also want to be sure to wear loose-fitting clothing that will not rub against the Tattoo &#8212; especially in the first 2 or 3 days of healing.<\/p>\n<p><b>DO NOT PICK\u00a0at your new Tattoo<\/b>.\u00a0 Ideally, the skin will form an &#8220;onion-peel&#8221; like a sunburn.\u00a0 Allow this to slough-off naturally while bathing &#8212; and some will remove when you gently rub lotion into the Tattoo.<\/p>\n<p><b>KEEP IT CLEAN<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0 Avoid things like letting your pets lick the freshly Tattooed skin.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t touch your Tattoo yourself if you have not washed your hands.\u00a0 Be conscious that you are still healing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7680 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/drprem.com\/designguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2013\/11\/87696351-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"87696351\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/drprem.com\/designguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2013\/11\/87696351-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/drprem.com\/designguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2013\/11\/87696351.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>5. Moisturizing<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>DO NOT OVER-MOISTURIZE<\/b>.\u00a0This will\u00a0retard the healing process and not let the skin &#8220;breathe&#8221;, lead to heavier scabbing and potential loss of color from your new Tattoo.<\/p>\n<p>Moisturizing should be &#8220;light&#8221; &#8212; a thin coat in the morning, and in the evening of when it feels &#8220;dry&#8221;.<\/p>\n<!--CusAds0-->\n<div style=\"font-size: 0px; height: 0px; line-height: 0px; margin: 0; padding: 0; clear: both;\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A freshly made tattoo requires extra care.
