It is a Greek dish specially made during the festival of lights, Hanukkah, in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alwaysfoodie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/low_carb_latkes_e7rz5.jpg\" alt=\"Low Carb Latkes\" title=\"Low Carb Latkes\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p><b>Complexity level:<\/b><b> <\/b>Easy<\/p>\n<p><b>Time taken:<\/b><b> <\/b>40-45 minutes<\/p>\n<p><b>Ingredients:<\/b><b> <\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>3 medium leeks, cleaned and cut into      2-inch pieces<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons whole-wheat flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup sour cream<\/li>\n<li>Salt &amp; pepper<\/li>\n<li>1-cup oil for frying<\/li>\n<li>Sour cream or yogurt<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Process:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Boil the leeks in salty water until soft. Remove and drain the water and let it cool for 10-15 minutes. Squeeze it with your hands to remove excess water from it. Then puree the leeks with hand blender or in a food processor. Then make a mixture of whisked egg, leek puree, flour, sour cream, salt, and pepper. This mixture should be like a pancake batter in terms of thickness and look.<\/p>\n<p>Heat the oil in a frying pan and spoon half cup of the batter into the pan, flattening them into thick patties with the help of a spatula. Fry the patties until they are golden, flipping them once.
