Nintendo Revolution was only a code name that has expressed Nintnedo’s direction. The new name sans any trademark will certainly make faithfuls worry about the scope of it, and why they have sank a marquee name like this for Wii (Pronounced, We).
The way Volkswagen tries to showcase its German flavor, it seems (quite possible) Nintendo also wants to get rid of ‘Revolution’ because it’s so Americanized. Japanese also can not pronounce the word, Ravolution and pronounce it with parts. Most importantly, people wonder, what a game console has to do with revolution; may be a perception mis-match and hitting the target market on the wrong foot.
Wii, on the other hand sounds weird, has a typical eastern flavor with some mysticism (because you do not understand what this three letter word actually connotes). Going with the gaming industry’s rule of thumb it tries to infuse some quantity of mystery into it.
After the right dose of exposure young guns (and all the gamers, we hope) will be able to relate to the ‘We’ thing.
