UK advertising watchdog Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned Australian cricketer Shane Warne’s endorsement for Advanced Hair Studio.
ASA has found that the hair treatment company has breached the copybook rule by using Warnie, a super celebrity (for all the on and off field records) to endorse a treatment involving a medicine that contains drug minoxidil. Advanced Hair Studio has said it would appeal against the decision taken by ASA. It says Shane Warne is campaigning for the firm and not the laser therapy treatment.
The press advertisement reads, ‘Advanced Hair, Yeah, Yeah’ followed by, ‘Warnie, Warnie, Warnie.’
However, no such ban seems to be in the agenda in his home country Australia. A company official said, ‘The decision by the ASA does not relate to the advertising of AHS in Australia.’
