Time to stop blaming Television, the poor idiot box. A new study conducted in US points out that internet is the new villain which is emerging as an impediment in family relationship.

A report, conducted by The Annenberg Center for the Digital Future at the University of Southern California, says that US families are spending less time together, whether it’s around the dinner table or just in front of the TV. The report blames the increasing usage of internet for this situation.

In the report, 28 percent of Americans said they have been spending less time with members of their households. That’s nearly triple the 11 percent who said that in 2006.

As social networks like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace are booming, along with the importance people place on them, family members are not getting enough time for an interaction. Unlike, TV, internet is much more personal one, which is not a means for family gathering.
