This billboard advertisement is claimed to be the world’s first solar powered billboard promoting a bank somewhere in Africa. The bank responsible for the advertisement is involved in harnessing and converting sun energy into electricity. The bank as of now provides electricity to kitchen of a township and primary school. It envisages generating amount of energy enough for the school’s power need. However, this billboard holds back energy enough to illuminate itself during night.
This kind of advertisement medium is certainly rarely spotted and is instrumental mainly in static advertisements but it can also be used in digital billboard advertisements as well using the solar energy. The experiment initially may not be cost effective but it will certainly hold great importance in the time to come amid looming energy scarcity.
