The Great Wall of China is probably one of the most sustainable human constructions ever, without wasting natural resources and using pure human toil. Now China has another great wall, which is 100% sustainable as well, and also technologically more advanced than many constructions of the present day. The GreenPix – Zero Energy Media Wall is a mega wall composed of 2,292 LED light and covers an impressive 24,000 square feet. The wall behaves like an organism, uses solar energy during the day to light itself up at night. The power, called the photovoltaic power is one of the greenest sources of energy known to man today. New York based architect Simone Giostra and British building engineers Arup teamed up with German manufacturers Schueco and Sunways to create this new technology. The cells are arranged in changing densities, which helps them to absorb more natural light. The building, which uses this wall, the Xicui Entertainment Complex, was thrown open to the public in June 2008.
