A federal government report says that approximately 48 million motorists, mostly young man living in rural areas do not wear safety belts. However, after a decade long campaign, from mere 61 percent seat belt use by front seat occupants now stand at 82 percent. The report has also shown that children are also mostly placed in the back seat.
The State Department of Transportation along with four country police departments will unveil a ‘click it or ticket’ seat belt campaign from may 22. The ad will run through June 4th. The campaign will try to reach young adults, between 18 to 25 and pick up drivers, who mostly do not comply to the seta belt laws. Violators will be fined $92.
