Online video ad spending to hit $3 billion mark by 2010

The online-video advertising spending in U.S. is likely to be almost double to mark $3 billion a year business by the year 2010 says a report released by eMarketer. According to the report U.S. business will spend nearly $410 million on online advertising including internet-video advertising in the current year. The report went on to speculate that this amount will be doubled to touch $775 million in the subsequent year.

The New York based advertising tracker, eMarketer, concludes that between 2008 and 2010 the growth for online-videos will be slightly sluggish to around 50 percent; however, the aggregate value will stretch to $3 billion a year.

The report said despite the overgenerous growth percentage predicted for internet advertising including online-video is unlikely to displace text or banner ads as the foremost choice of marketers. Nevertheless, even if the U.S. online-video ad spending would reach $3 billion a year business but that will constitute only 10 percent of U.S. total internet-ad spending.
