The full page print ad for Popetown which shows Jesus wearing a crown of thorns and enjoying MTV’s Popetown program, has annoyed the Christians in Germany. Earlier the advertisement was found ‘too controversial’ in Britain and people in New Zealand protest after it appeared on television.
The ad has come out in such a time when the furore over newspaper cartoons over Prophet Muhammad seems to be settling down a bit. Now Christians in Germany, who constitute two thirds of the population are asking why their faith has become an easy target. Christian Social Union party asks MTV to pull both the series and the tasteless ads soon.
