Motorazr: A confounding ad from China

Motorola had launched this print advertisement in China to promote the sale of its hot selling product, Motorazr. The campaign has focused the razor thin aspect of the cell phone. The advertisement is showing a woman with a Motorazr, looking at men who have been probably cut into many pieces by the phone. The women has been depicted as if she is involved in solving a jigsaw puzzle or making one suitable person for herself by bringing together desired body parts from different men. However, the product benefit seems to have just passing reference here as the advertisement has apparently multiple layers.

The presentation of the advertisement is drawing some resemblance with campaigns promoting men’s formal clothes. As a matter of fact, only thinness of the phone has been highlighted in the name of focusing product benefit, while other aspects have been left untouched and rest of the advertisement seems to be slightly forced. The campaign is developed by Ogilvy & Mather, Beijing, China.
