The disturbing video of Michael Jackson’s Pepsi commercial accident, released exclusively by the Us Weekly, may bring some negative publicity to Pepsi. Filmed in L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium on January 27, 1984, the commercial had set MJ’ hair afire.

Though the pyrotechnics exploded as planned initially, on the sixth take, it erupted too early. MJ was at first unaware of the accident and continued dancing. Reports indicate that this accident has done more harm to MJ, particularly in his behavioral patterns. Some believe that this accident was the root cause of MJ’s addiction to pain killers.

Being a celebrity means you are sacrificing your personal life and peace on the altar of fame. Michael Jackson’s was a victim of insensitive commercialism. The world praised the king of Pop but failed to see the human being in him. He was alone in the maddening crowd amid gossips, scandals and controversies. Camera eyes failed to discover the true Michael Jackson who was just like you and me.
