A Bernalillo County man is currently facing a fine up to $500 and 90 days imprisonment in jail for promoting animal fighting. Julio Esparza has been recently accused of selling rooster for cockfighting in Albuquerque by placing ad in a newspaper for the purpose.
As a matter of fact, cockfighting is legal in New Mexico while in Albuquerque, selling rooster for cockfighting is illegal. Moreover, New Mexico and Louisiana are the only two states in U.S. where cockfighting is Legal.
