This television commercial, meant for promoting Carl’s Jr. restaurant chain and its patty melt sandwich, drew flakes from a teacher’s association for being offensive. The advertisement was aired during last week’s Tennessee Titans football game and has annoyed the head of the state’s teacher’s union. The ad is showing an actress rising and falling on and around her desk like a stripper at the same time, students rap about how they like ‘flat buns’.
Reacting fiercely on the advertisement Earl Wiman, president of the Tennessee Education Association, said in a statement, ‘How irresponsible can you get?’ The statement on their website further reads, ‘It is unbelievably demeaning to every one of them to promote a television advertisement showing a young teacher gyrating on top of her desk while boys in the class rap about her body in order to sell hamburgers!’

On the other hand, Carl’s Jr. has defended the advertisement saying, ‘the ad is obviously a spoof, and the target chunk of the ad is young men who consider this type of ad campaign appealing.’
