The Belgian polar station on the South Pole had launched this boomerang cards campaign in order to help funding its scientific research for understanding climatic change at its base. The campaign aims to urge general mass to contribute for the project through raising awareness among people, as the project needed some extra funding. The postcard advertisements are showing some arctic locations in different climatic conditions in order to depict changing climate. The advertisements are carrying punch lines such as ‘Total Sales, End Of Season, and -30%’, which is slightly confusing. The projected research is expected to contribute to a better understanding of the climate changes, which should lead to some guidance rules to combat the greenhouse effect.
These are free postal cards that are being distributed in cafes, restaurants and other public places. The presentation of the campaign is not very impressive and compelling to attract undivided attention of people. In addition to it, it is also questionable whether this campaign would be thought provoking. The cards put in displays and the free service has met quite a success amongst students and teens. The campaign was created by Air, Belgium.
