This television advertisement meant for promoting soup manufacturer Batchelors. This advertisement has landed in controversy when it was aired recently. The advertisement titled, ‘Blue thing’ was actually aired way back in the year 2005, when no eyebrows were raised over the advertisement. However, when it was aired in the current year complaints were being made alleging that the ad is sexually suggestive.
Moreover, after receiving complaints the company has apologized for the advert aimed at promoting its product Cup a Soup. This commercial is a part of the ‘Great big hug in a mug‘ campaign created by Delaney Lund Knox Warren.
The advertisement has shown that giant arms hugging a women who sipping the soup. The complaints alleged the giant hands were shown groping woman’s private parts. Though any formal investigation has not been ordered so far by the advertising watchdog, but there are chances that the ASA may act on it.
