Agencies, blow your own trumpets; with care

There is nothing wrong with an agency trying to promote itself. Some kind of uneasiness arises when an agency exhibits pompousness in this effort. Do you remember how an agency made a self-promo through holy cows, ridiculing the traditional norms and believes in advertising. The copy was nice to read, but between the lines, some sort of ignorant haughtiness was lurking. I saw it, may be I am wrong, may be I am creatively myopic. You decide.

Another thing when agencies go for self –promotion may be despicable gimmicks, like in the case of that (creatively) crazy case of creative director who threatened to eat his socks. That may be considered as an indirect way of agency self-promotion. There are some enjoyable passable efforts like that lopsided boobs by DDB. One agency even beheaded Santa in protest against client’s habit of cutting advertising expenses.

Here is an ostensibly humble, refreshing advertising show off from Leo Burnett Lisbon. The credit goes to the Dog Tura. Leo Burnett promoted her to Creative Advisor. And Tura was included in the credits on all their work.

Again, the agency doggedly moves forward with this different story. After she won several awards, we created a website to show her awarded work, a twitter account with her point of view, a linkedin account, tshirts and usb card with the agency credentials among other tools to generate content for our B2B campaign.

Humble and haughty. Sarcastic(we know) too.
