Imagine a situation where companies are lured to pay for advertisements in ânon-existentâ publications. That has what happened in New Zealand.
Cops are trying to find out the group which amassed millions of dollars from many companies in New Zealand. The group offers advertising in magazines that have similar titles to authentic brands. Clients who agree to the advertising are then sent an invoice, despite the adverts never being published.
Reports indicate that the scam had been operating for about 8 months during which time more than $US1.2 million dollars had been taken from thousands of businesses nationwide, including schools, hospitals and child care centers.
