Subway, the famous chain of sandwich shops, had launched this contentious poster advertisement to promote a French-style chicken sandwich. The advertisement was sharply criticized by the US French expatriate community for being Anti-French. Groups within the US French expatriate community had been repeatedly asking their members to write to Subway in order to demand of withdrawal of the advertisement campaign. Consequently, bowing to the pressure the food chain decided to withdraw the controversial campaign.<\/p>

The company had also issued an apology letter to those who complained and said that it was certainly their intention to insult anyone with the design of the ad. Following the complaints they straightaway instructed all of their restaurants participating in this promotion to remove the advertisements immediately. They further said in their apology letter that intention was to show to customers that fine French cuisine and our chicken sandwiches are a complimentary pairing.<\/p>\n
