Treating burns naturally

Burns is a condition that can happen at anytime and anywhere. While it is important to be careful and prevent such mishaps, it is equally important to be prepared for such incidents and act immediately without wasting time. If you believe in natural methods of treatment there is a variety of natural medicines that can be used in case of minor burns that affect only the upper layer of the skin.

The use of natural medicines is simple and can be easily adopted by anyone. However, in case you sense that the condition is serious or it is something that does not appear to heal, it is better to take medical opinion and act accordingly.

Some of the natural substances that can be used to treat burns are

  • Egg white – in case of burns, the affected area is washed with cold water. After the burning sensation has stopped, the area should be gently dried with a piece of soft cloth. Further, egg whites obtained from beaten eggs can be applied to the burnt area. As egg white contains proteins, it helps in the healing process and also prevents scars.

  • Fenugreek – Fenugreek seeds are used to make a natural cream by grinding the seeds and mixing it with honey. This cream can be applied to the affected area after it is cleaned properly.
  • Sesame – White sesame seeds are soaked in water for few hours and ground to make a paste. This paste can then be taken over a cotton piece and applied over the burnt area.

Turmeric

  • Turmeric – Turmeric powder is mixed with small quantity of mustard oil. This cream has medicinal properties as turmeric is an antiseptic and an antibacterial and helps in healing of wounds and burns without leaving scars.
  • Ghee – Ghee is another great natural remedy that provides comfort to the affected area. It can be directly applied to the affected part immediately after burns or scalds. It helps to relieve the burning pain, prevents the formation of boils from burns or scalds and has a cooling effect.
