Feng Shui is a way of living that teaches us to live in sync with the environment. The word Feng Shui means wind and water. It focuses on attempting to maintain a harmony in our lives and the surroundings to experience a peaceful life.
History
Since ancient times Feng Shui has been used in Chinese culture and is considered as a way of living, in a balanced way. It is used as an art in decoration of house, making or architecture of houses and even town planning. The main aim was to fight against wild wind and water that could affect lives. Slowly, as the society grew Feng Shui gained a name for bringing prosperity, fertility, fame and success.
Principle
The main aim is to fight the evil or remove its negative effects by planning or decorating the environment in a particular fashion. It believes that a man, being a part of this universe must pay due respect to the surroundings. A man should not only protect the environment but also bestow love, affection and must refrain from behaving against the nature.
It goes beyond to explain the concept with the help of three kinds of luck.
Heaven luck – A man is born with this luck and is based on his deeds in the past life. One cannot easily change this luck.
Mankind luck – A man defines this luck by the deeds, devotion and the dedication shown in the life.
Earth luck – A man’s life is influenced by the luck of the earthly places that he lives or work’s in. The luck in these places can be modified by the use of Feng Shui and its recommendations.
Method
The Feng Shui or the luck in a particular area, for example a person’s house or office is studied by experts. They study the location of the building in connection to the land, mountains, buildings, water bodies, etc. The directions to which the house and the rooms face are considered. All these and many such minute details are studied and calculated in relation to the stars.
Thereafter, they prescribe a solution in the form the arrangement of rooms, colors scheme and other planning and decoration. This aims at enhancing the good luck and suppressing the evil.
