1. Gooseberry and honey remedy

Gooseberry and honey have antibacterial properties that help in treating conjunctivitis. For making a concoction that can be taken twice a day, take a few raw gooseberries and wash them thoroughly with water. Crush them and extract gooseberry juice. Once you have extracted a cup of fresh gooseberry juice, add one tablespoon of fresh and organically sourced honey, and drink this mix in the morning and evening every day. 2. Carrot and spinach remedy

Because of the nutritional qualities of spinach, conjunctivitis can be easily treated and relieved at home. Take 300 ml of carrot juice and 200 ml of spinach juice, and mix well. This can be taken 3-4 times a day for good results. Results are visible in a week’s time.

3. Potato juice

Potato juice also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help in reducing the swelling associated with conjunctivitis. Take a medium sized potato and clean it well. Remove the skin and grate the potato. Squeeze the grated pieces and extract the juice. This juice can be used for washing the eyes affected with conjunctivitis. Potato juice has to be used in conjunction with other home remedies as it does not actually treat the infection. Relief will be felt immediately.

4. Coriander water

Coriander seeds are anti-inflammatory in nature and can relieve burning sensation and pain by offering coolness to the eyes. Take some coriander seeds and wash thoroughly. Tie the seeds in a cotton cloth and soak them in a bowl of water. This cool water can be used for removing the pus from the eyes. Use it as frequently as required. Coriander water helps in keeping the inflammation under control and your conjunctivitis will be healed in 3-4 days.

5. Indian lilac (neem)

A strong antibacterial agent, Indian lilac (neem) leaves are used for treating a number of skin disorders. For conjunctivitis, take some fresh Indian lilac leaves and wash thoroughly. Add 2 cups of water and boil the leaves for about 15 minutes. Cool and use the water for cleaning the infected eye. The infection will subside in 2 to 3 days.

6. Chamomile

Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties that can be used for treating conjunctivitis. You can use chamomile tea bags or freshly dried chamomile for treating conjunctivitis. Take dried chamomile and tie it in a cotton cloth. Soak in half a bowl of water and allow it to cool in the refrigerator for 10 minutes before using it. Press the cool bag onto your eyes for 10 minutes. You can use the water for cleaning the eyes. Tea bags can be just dampened and cooled before using. Chamomile tea bags can be carried along while traveling and, hence, are a great way to keep your eyes healthy.

7. Honey

Honey is a natural antibacterial and good for treating mild episodes of conjunctivitis, especially in children. Take two tablespoons full of fresh organically sourced honey for this treatment and add 8 oz of water to it. This water can be used for washing the eyes frequently. Honey removes all the bacteria and keeps the eyes well moisturized and free from dryness and irritation. Treatment with honey is also a simple step that can be used while traveling. Infection will subside in 3-4 days.

8. Baking soda

Baking soda is good for the treatment of all kinds of infections. For treating conjunctivitis, take one tablespoon of baking soda and add a glass or two of water depending on the severity of the infection. This water can be sprayed on to the eyes several times a day to remove inflammation and swelling and also the bacterial infection. Baking soda can be carried along while traveling and can help in treating the conjunctivitis in a matter of days.

9. Warm or cold compress

Warm compress is the simplest remedy that is used for treating inflammation and pain. Take a bowl of warm water and soak a clean cotton cloth into it. Wring dry and apply to the eyes. Frequent application will remove the swelling and itchiness. Cold compress can also be used with the same results. Warm or cold compress might be difficult to undertake while you are on the move. However, it offers immediate relief to the patient.
