The Himalayas in the North of the Indian Peninsula which has Mt. Everest, the world’s highest peak, is the world’s most popular place for skiing, down its snow covered slopes. One can also go for trekking along the cliffs. In the Northern part of the Himalayan region the rivers are always available for water sports. Tourists can go for white water rafting or rowing in the River Zanskar, Rishikesh or Dandeli.

The Brahmaputra River offers a fine place for kayaking. The tour stars from Tuting where the Tsang Po River transforms into the Siang River. During the tour there are many halts when one can go for hiking or camping in the Jedu village and the Palsi village. Kayaking on Zanskar River is a very entertaining sport, which beginson the Indus River from Spituk and then ends with a camping at Tsarap.

Gulmarg in Kashmir, situated at an altitude of 2730 m, is a favorite skiing destination for tourists. Being a hotspot for tourists it is well connected by road, air and rail to the rest of India.

Kullu Manali is another such renowned tourist destination and it is best to visit between October and February. Skiing is the most popular sport over here. The tourists have a memorable experience in skiing down the sloppy mountains which remains submerged beneath a thick layer of snow at that time.

Rohtang situated at an altitude of 3978 m, is the best skiing track in the whole of India. It is one of the most interesting and also one of the most difficult to cross over.

Goa, the smallest state in India boasts of various water sports like water-skiing, parasailing, wind surfing, etc. Numerous number of locals and foreigners come to visit these all trough the year, except during the winter.

India is a country where cricket is played extensively everywhere from alleys, parks, fields to stadiums. The cricket-crazy country has important stadiums like The Eden Gardens, Kolkata, and then The Wankhede Stadium at Mumbai and The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Chennai. A cricket fan will never feel bored here. India also had a glorious past in Hockey. Kite surfing is another water sport which is gaining popularity in India. The rider is pulled forward at a great speed with the help of a parachute. The Andaman and Nicobar Island and the beaches of Goa and Kerala are the most suitable places to try this out.
