The Sailor Crow…. ‘True story of a CROW’

The sailor’s crow is based on a true event…. This is not a ‘just story’ but this true event edify each one of us the factual gist of life and willingness to be alive. “This is a true story of a CROW”

My husband is a Captain in Merchant Navy. I joined with him and as it was my very first sail, which will be remembered for years. There on ship I met this TNO and he shared this unique, yet inspiring incident to me, which occurred on his last ship, something about a ‘Crow’.

As being a journalist for me every small story holds a valuable moral behind it. Well this is one of them.

“One of the ship is ready to sail for Colombo from Chennai; the voyage was Chennai – Colombo – Chennai. All the crews are geared up, for the experience they will be facing in there journey of 2 days to Colombo.

Capt and rest of the crew onboard set there sail on there voyage with out knowing they may have an extra passenger on board.

As the vessel reached the deep water of Indian Ocean, one of the crew noticed a bird ‘crow’ onboard, which is quite common in shipping. Even I have seen while sailing, many birds comes on board as the ship leaves a definite port for there next expedition. Some die and some fly away but this crow was different.

On there way to Sri Lanka The weather was bad and no one expected that the crow will be staying in there entire journey.

With bad rain and full force of waves hitting the ship with its big splash of salted water… made the poor crow exhausted and sick to death, the bird had no idea where the ship is going or what his fate has for him. He just wanted to survive and return back home.

The TNO gave him cream to eat, fresh water to drink without knowing if he is going to endure a night more.
But each morning he intends to survive, which went night after night and finally he reached Sri Lanka. As discharging was on, everyone forgot about the bird and got busy. But the crow stayed put waited without knowing where he is or what’s happening around him, he just knew this place was not his home. After the discharging was completed the ship left back for Chennai.

For the crow that was not the end of his journey he wanted to go back home, no matter what or how long it takes for him, he fought heavy winds or thundering rain, he just fought to survive to be home.

As the ship reached its port, it might be another port with work for the crews but for the Crow he finally made it back home and just flew away.”

I was flabbergasted to know this story. As a common man’s mind this is some ordinary story written on a silly bird, but if you to think in a different prospected mind, there is a hidden moral behind it. I am penning down my mind in simple words.

There are three extensive things which make’s this story, a story with moral.

First willingness: Taking someone or something as your strength,
Second optimism: Of not giving up, and finally
Third potency: Power of life.

Amalgamating all three makes a conquering and prolific life. So if a question occurs that do we have the ‘CROW’ within us? The answer is with ‘YOU’.
