Pet Dogs Moving Out of Waziristan with People

One of the heart-winning photos, by Ijaz Muhammad for the Associated Press, shows a pet dog snuggled amidst luggage and accompanying his owner family, sitting next to a little girl with a cherubic face as the family moves out of South Waziristan on account of a military operation against terrorists in the area.

Internally displaced people are heading Bannu and other areas to seek shelter from the Operation Rah-e-Nijat launched in June and intensified early this week by the military forces in South Waziristan. On the sixth day of the operation, security forces claim to have killed at least 24 militants and injured a dozen more. People moving out of the area are taking important things along, including their dear pet dogs that are part of the family.
