Hungary

Hungary is one of the famous members of European Union and Schengen Border-less Europe Agreement. It consists of many vibrant locations that are very different from each other like low mountains in the north western sides, the plains in the east and many beautiful small villages add to the natural beauty of Hungary.

 

Location

 

Hungary is a country surrounded by land, lying in the eastern central Europe, which is bordered by Austria, Slovakia, the Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. It is located in the CarpathianBasin and surrounded by Carpathian Mountains, the Alps and the Dinaric Alps. It covers a total area of 93,030 square kilometers of which 690 square kilometers of area is water. If compared to the state of Indiana, Hungary is slightly smaller.

 

People

 

People in Hungary, popularly known as ‘Hungarians’, speak a language and have a culture unlike any other in the entire region. This difference has been a reason for pride for more than 1100 years. The inhabitants are very friendly and take pride in representing Hungarian culture.

 

Events

 

As far as events are concerned, Hungary, with more than 200 events is known as a ‘FestivalCity’, showing how much the festival values to the people living here.  One of the main events of Hungary in the cultural calendar is the Budapest Spring Festival, which starts in March. The highlights of this event are exhibitions, conferences and an array of international and local performances that lifts the energy and spirit of all the people.

 

Weather

 

Due to the influence of Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean, the climate of Hungary is continental. The weather   depends on the location of the place as it varies in different seasons. Winters can be cold, cloudy and damp or windy. The summers are warm and sometimes very hot.  Hungary receives heavy rainfall in May, June and November and the west and southwest receives maximum rainfall.
