When you decide to travel or migrate to a different country, the first thing you notice is its security level. While a few countries have average levels of security for citizens and travelers, some should be highly avoided. But there are a few countries that are peaceful, tranquil and offer you a living in serenity. Check out this list of five most peaceful countries in the world.

Japan

After the Second World War, Japan has picked up its reins and became a nation that denounced war and participation in war. Since then, the country has flourished. As a neutral country, Japan is one of the most peaceful nations in the world, ranking second in Asia Pacific. Japan manages to retain its culture, has denounced usage of nuclear armament, has positive relations with major countries, avoids easy access to small weapons and is known for high GDP growth. Except for its frigid relations with China, it has nothing to worry about. The country ranks fifth on the list.

Canada

On fourth comes Canada, which has been considered one of the most peaceful countries in the world for years now. Canada offers excellent level of civil liberties and even gives citizens the freedom to protest. That is the reason why likelihood of demonstration is low; people are more contended, use less of small arms and have high GDP growths. Canada also cherishes positive relations with other countries including its neighbor US.

New Zealand

New Zealand has been ranked one of the most peaceful countries for over five years. The country has a very small percentage of population in jail and even with limited military capacity; it enjoys a positive stance with neighboring countries. Political Terror rates are low and corruption levels are even lower.

Denmark

Ever since the government of Denmark decided to reduce its military spending, the country has witnessed growth in its ranks as one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Denmark has lowest levels of crime and conflict, higher levels of equity in income and general peace. With stable democracy and freedom to citizens, the country ranks second on the list.

Iceland

The country of Iceland has lesser populations, but it also has lesser crimes and has positive relationship with neighboring countries. With no standing army and less than 1 percent of budget allotted to military, Iceland ranks top of the list. The homicidal rates are low and the country is peaceful with high levels of personal income.
