Visit the Glacier Bay National Park:

The breathtaking beauty of the icy mountains and tidewater glaciers is what you will get when you reach the Glacier Bay National Park. Due to the unique weather of this National Park, it fosters a unique lot of flora and fauna. The wildlife you get to observe is stunning and mesmerizing. You may feel that you are in some other planet. It is located on a narrow stretch of land, which is not the part of mainland Alaska but projected outwards from it. You will have to travel 65 km from Juneu.

Cruise ships take travelers to this secluded place and the deck is the place from where you can enjoy the lovely sceneries and wildlife of this National Park. You may catch many glimpses of sea lions basking in the meager sunlight on top of rocks or see Humpback Whales in action. You may also get to see the breeding process of seals that give birth on floating ice shafts. A lot of coyotes, wolves, bears and moose live in this National Park. You may also indulge in some kayaking while here.

Enjoy fishing:

Even if you do not have strong fishing skills, do indulge in some fishing in this fishing heaven. Many sport fishes are found in the rivers of Alaska like Halibut, rainbow trout and salmon. Chiseled anglers may hire a charter for a week or few days according to their desire and budget. You will have to procure a license for fishing first. You can start fishing in the inside passages of water and then reach the Arctic. There is no dearth of fishes in this lovely land.

Check out the Iditarod National Historic Trail:

The more than a thousand miles long Iditarod National Historic Trail starts from a place that is located around 50 miles north to Seward. This trail has traveled through Iditarod from where it got its name and ends at Nome. The very first batch of explorers and prospectors were told to travel in dog drawn sledges on this Iditarod National Historic Trail by natives of Alaska.

Watch the northern lights:

If you visit Alaska anytime between March and September, you may get to see the wonderful northern lights or Aurora Borealis. This natural light can only be seen in the polar region and it is best observed from Alaska. Look at the sky after sunset. This is the best time for observing the natural lights that dances in the sky.

Go to the end of earth:

If you travel to Alaska then you should also visit Barrow, which is the northernmost point of America. It is a tiny village where the sun does not rise for 50 to 70 days a year. An approximate 5,000 people live here.
