What Comes with Ease, Goes with Ease

Green Leaves

‘What comes with ease goes with ease’ is perhaps one of the most basic and truest of sayings, which if understood well and kept in mind by men can help them in decision making and prioritizing things in life. At any crossroads in life, if this statement and most importantly, the truth of it is realized, you know which path to follow and exactly in what way. So what exactly does this statement mean and how does it help one in decision making in that way?

In the simplest of terms, what this saying tries to communicate is the fact that in life there are things which comes to us easily and some which we attain after a lot of hard work and perseverance, there exists some paths for us which are very easy to tread on while some others beside them that are not so easy. The objects or people or situations or anything for that matter that have very easily come to you without you having to work very hard for it, are always those which can very easily go away as well.

Those That Come with Ease:

So against this background if one were to ask what are those that come to us easily in life and hence has the chance of going away easily as well the two answers would be:

  • Mediocre things
  • Materialistic Things

Mediocre Things:

Mediocrity or ordinariness is something that comes to any human being quite easily. Infact being a mediocre is the easiest thing for people. Starting from childhood, getting 50 out of 100 in mathematics is way easier than getting in the nineties. Or doing mediocrely in a race in easier than ranking first and so on and so forth. In simpler words, when we learn a skill, being a mediocre is the easy way out. Lack of hardwork or complacency or being carried away by distraction are all too common aspects of life. Whatever we achieve easily without putting in that effort should be kept in mind that it would go away easily as well. Something that we have really worked hard for, strived to attain and really worked extremely hard to reach a certain level is the skill that would not go away so easily as well.

Materialistic Things:

If you get money easily, its going to leave you easily as well. However, non-materialistic things, lets say inner peace or spiritual consciousness, things that do not come to us easily, things that we have to work hard to understand, internalize and live by are also those which do not go away. Happiness from money is very shortlived in life while real true happiness by realizing one’s true potential or happiness by selfless giving to others do not go away just like that. Since materialistic objects come to us easily, they go away too in an equal pattern.

Taking the right decision:

Its all too common in life to stand at a crossroad and fretting which path to take. Whether to take the easy way out or the more difficult one. There are times when we cant prioritize things in our lives. In all such times, the above saying “What Comes with Ease, Goes with Ease” is what can come to our rescue. So how does one use the wisdom of this statement in decision making and prioritizing proposes?

While in decision making, the apparently easy way to things or the easy way out is also usually the dishonest, unethical or the non-beneficial-to-all ones. Always keep in mind that the seeming easy way out to get something does not necessarily guarantee a long lived solution. What you are going to get easily would go away in the same way.

Prioritize

In case of Prioritizing things in life, always give priority to things that are difficult to achieve vis-à-vis the ones which are easily attainable since now you know which is going to be with you longer. Never base on things that have come to you easily.

For example, if you are the son / daughter of a rich father, money has come to you quite easily. You have never had to really spend years in sweat and hard work to attain that. Hence, you should never base your beliefs, attitudes, lifestyle, way of looking at things, or base any important decisions of life on the basis of existence of money since it might go away very easily too.

Taking examples of people, never take for granted people in life as because the ones that have easily entered yours would leave easily as well. Lets take a case of a friend who is easily a part of your life. Both of your fathers were friends, are in the same business and you know this guy since childhood, are acquainted and hence are friends, vis-à-vis another friend of yours who’s existence in your life hasn’t been  very easy. Both of you were never meant to be together but somehow became friends and then your relationship passed through a lot of twists and turns, opportunities where it was tested and proven and made stronger. A relationship that didn’t come to you easily but after a lot of effort. In times when you have nothing to yourself, which friend do you think would be with you and which one would go away easily? You have your answer. Hence, never base on anything that has come to you easily in life.

Happiness is something that all men strive for and it is that one single desire that drives every action of man. So remember to base your happiness not on easily attainable materialistic and mediocre things in life. Don’t be happy with house, cars, money and fame that has come to you easily. But if the same has come to you after a lot of hard work in life and you have a sense of achievement or fulfillment attached to it, if your happiness is based not directly on the money per se but on the feeling of self-achievement after earning it through so tough times, then your happiness is here to stay. Thus, always choose the seemingly difficult but better path to anything, since that’s the only way to ensure that it would not go away easily later on.
