Tips to ship your car out of the country

When you are opting for shipping your car overseas from the United Kingdom to either places like Spain or Australia, then most of the car shipping agent would give you two options of shipping your car:  Roll on/Roll off (RoRo) or container shipment.

Car-Delivery-with-shipping

The shipping vessels that are used for Roll on/Roll off are basically designed keeping in mind truck and car transportation. car shipping service are the first choice and primarily used by customers as well as by automobile manufacturers who keep shipping their vehicles across the globe.

The RoRo vessels are huge and can hold six thousand cars in one single sailing- such is their capacity!  Despite the sheer size of the vessel and the large number of automobiles, loading these vessels is not a hassle as the cars use a ramp for climbing in and are easily parked in a secure manner.  RoRo shipping is normally considered a more affordable option as the vessel holds a large number of vehicles, which makes it quite cost-effective.

However, on the other side, the only one major shortcoming is that RoRo shipping does not allow you to store your personal belongings in the car whilst it is being shipped, as the shipping company does not insure the same.  There are chances that your car might have to be unlocked during the journey if something goes wrong.

The other option- container shipping- is a good solution if your requirements are something that is not covered by the RoRo shipping.  For instance, your vehicle might not be suitable for RoRo shipping or your destination might not have facilities for RoRo services at the port.  There are two types of container sizes- 20 feet and 40 feet in length.  Although you can easily transport your car in the 20-foot container, yet, you can opt for a 40 foot one as it will not only transport two vehicles but also you could utilise the remaining space for other goods, which does not happen in the case of RoRo shipping.  This helps you save on additional shipment costs.

Although both these options end up sending you car from location A to location B, nevertheless, it is important to understand the two as they are distinctly different and also charge very differently.

Summary:

While shipping your car, you need to take a stock of what all you require. For instance, do you have multiple cars or other personal items that would cost you more if you opted for RoRo shipment or otherwise.
