Separation anxiety is a multidimensional emotional state of mind which causes fear, apprehension, insecurity, helplessness etc. Here are common ways to deal with separation anxiety.

Socialising

When a person suffers from separation anxiety, he or she is more likely to stay alone and aloof. One must try to avoid that. Meeting new people and attending social gatherings are nice ways to get over the pain of separation and it helps to know different and diverse people. Like in case of children parents can introduce them to care takers and make them comfortable around them so that the child can learn to stay without the parents not being home sometimes.

Expressing your emotions

Confining your feelings and emotions within yourself and not letting people know about it is not healthy. Not expressing your true feelings and thoughts has a huge mental impact and the person might start becoming short-tempered or annoying. Taking emotional support from your close people and discussing the way you feel about things helps a lot in overcoming fears. The more you discuss, the better you feel.

Reassure yourself that things will be fine. Law of attraction states that a positive mind will always achieve what it believes can be done. Be optimistic about the anxiety stage passing soon. Realise the fact that you’re not alone dealing with anxieties and fears. There are many people in the same condition, many of whom have successfully gotten over their pain

Nourish your spirituality

Meditation is one of the most traditional ways to deal with any form of anxiety or fear. Giving yourself time and doing meditation on a regular basis will not only increase your ability to deal with pain but also helps you to traverse the idea of separation anxiety. Though this way may take some time but it helps you to handle anxiety disorders.

One should understand that separation anxiety is a very common phase of a person’s development and need not be over-hyped.
