How to be different without being odd?

life different

‘Different’. Surprisingly we all want to be different. Few, however, dare to be different. This is nothing, but a self consciousness that bother us about, ‘What will people say about me?’ To be different, this is one question or thought that needs to be chucked out from your mind. Once done you are ready for the next step. When people talk behind your back it simply means that you are two steps ahead of them!

Here is telling you how to be different without being odd:

  • The most important thing in being different is to follow your heart! We often tend to do things against our wishes. This happens for we are afraid of being pointed fingers at. The next key ingredient to be different is to be self-confident. You may wear a million dollar attire but if you are not confident enough to carry it off, you will end up being ‘odd’.
  • Learn a new musical instrument. Not the conventional piano or guitar. How about flute or a tom-tom drum? Yet, keep your respect for people who plays the conventional instruments too!
  • Speak your heart. Avoid being diplomatic. A lot of people do like diplomatic ones. They often term them as ‘two headed snake’. Be bold enough to voice your opinion about anything. It is, however, important to remember that there is a right way to everything. Express your decisions and opinions in a firm yet polite way. Never ever humiliate others views and decisions.
  • Try and spare sometime in a week and teach a few not so fortunate kids. To encourage them to come and take the lessons, arrange for some goodies, like toffees, cakes, pencils or balloons. This way, not only can you be different than a number of people out there, but you will also feel happy about it; and remember teaching is always a mutual way of learning. Need I say more?
  • Respect everyone. Remember, everyone is different in their own unique way. Love people. Always be ready to help when someone is in need. Although it does not mean that you will have to like and love everyone. As Paul Newman said: “A man with no enemies is a man with no character.” Again, just as you need not like everyone, everybody need not necessarily like you too. Be a sport and accept that, and avoid badmouthing anyone.
  • No matter how busy you are, make it a point to find out some time and pursue at least one hobby of yours. This is also a way to spend some time with yourself in a week, giving you a chance to know yourself and your future plans better. Also, try and give time to your friends and family too. Without them your world might just cease to exist.
  • Remember not to be rude with anyone, or offend anyone as you try to be different from the rest of the crowd. Refrain from hurting people. This one is the toughest to follow, but once you have mastered this you will truly be different.
